4K TV recommendations
Looking for some 4K TV recommendations in Australia. My budget is around $1500 AUD. The TV will live in the living room so it's relatively bright. I do game now and then whenever life permits (being adult is hard man).
I have been eyeing the Hisense U7G and U8G but I have done some research and people are saying the Australian version is inferior to the US version. It still has Full Array Local Dimming and QLED though just don't know how reliable it is.
Also I have been recommended the Sony X90J but it is out of my budget. If it is REALLY that good, I will think about forking out a bit more and get it.
Any current owners of these TVs and feedbacks? Any other recommendations around my budget?

2021.10.26 01:37 slenker99 Any upside to Bitcoin Cash (BCH) left?
I initially bought in a little here as I liked the differentiation as it solved some of the perceived faults of original Bitcoin - i.e. lower transaction costs and faster transactions.
Now that I better understand layer 2 solutions and some of the build-out around the old school BTC - is there any upside left around Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Is anyone really developing on it, or is the momentum dead and gone?
I'm not seeing it, but want to validate my assumptions with all the smart people here as you haven't led me astray yet!!!!
And just to round things out, is it the same story for all the other forks of both Bitcoin and I guess Ethereum?

2021.10.26 01:37 Bootman795 I need help finding a solution
So I have been taking the time here recently to play some of my older games, those generally I hadn't played in a while and those I never finished playing, but nowadays, I can't get them to run anymore. All I get is a black box before the game just closes right after I click the play button on steam. Now these games I have played before on the same computer that I am using now to try to play them. I have not upgraded my computer at all since I got this computer a few years back. So with the same hardware and such, I am confused as to why I was able to play them back then, but now all of a sudden my computer just says, "No, fuck you. Find another game." The computer runs more recent and modern games just fine. It's just the ones that came out before the year of like 2014 that the computer seems to have a problem with. I'm sure that the answer is simple and I am just overlooking it, but I cant seem to find a solution anywhere. If anyone could help, that would be great.

2021.10.26 01:37 UCLAdy05 Newly released (2021) children’s hardback book with pink & purple cover about beauty in the world
I saw a book 3 weeks ago at a display for new children’s books and I can’t remember the name of it. It has beautiful pink, purple, yellow neon illustrations and was placed among other books like “Eyes that Kiss in the Corners” “Sarah and the Big Wave” and the one it was most similar to, “the tree in me”. the topic is basically a little girl discovering beauty in its many forms in the world.

2021.10.26 01:37 BigFatMonkeyButt04 I'm confused and need to vent
I'm sorry in advance if what I'm trying to say doesn't make sense I (17F) think I may be autistic. I'm in a confusing time right now because I've done a good amount of research on autism and find myself being able to relate to a lot of it. Off and on throughout the years I would think maybe I was autistic but I would always brush it aside because I was uneducated on what autism really was and how broad the spectrum is and that someone may have this trait while another doesn't. My mom has also been trying to do research throughout the years to try to figure out whats really going on with me and she would always come across autism and she said she really feels that I'm autistic. So of course that's when I decided to more research and found myself finally finding something that sounds like me. Which is odd because I haven't been able to relate to many things. I have always been different and for years I have been trying to find out what it is exactly so I can actually pin point things in my life and know what's behind it. I've been diagnosed with social anxiety, separation anxiety, GAD, and Depression. At some point my doctor suggested I get checked for bipolar. I just feel like no one has been able to pin point what's actually going on everyone just seems to push it aside and not listen to me. I've always been quite and talking to people always made me extremely nervous. It's extremely hard for me to read people and how they feel. Its hard for me to express my emotions. I will have extreme meltdowns at the most simplest things (for example if anyone touches my head I start crying). When I was younger I couldn't touch dirt or walk on the tiles in the mall or I would lose it. I have an obsession with stuff animals and cats and I've always felt objects have feelings and I can't get rid of things. I have sensory issues. I panic if my clothes are a certain material or if my socks or shoes touches my toes too much. I don't get along with people my own age. I find it very difficult to socialize and be able to have normal conversations. (There's probably a million more things I'm not thinking of right now but it's hard for me to remember once I have to think about it.) Besides the point my mom is going to call places this week to see if I can get an assessment but I'm slightly discouraged. 1. I heard it takes forever to even get an appointment 2. I'm afraid they won't listen to me and push me to side just because I look "normal" plus I heard its hard for females to get diagnosed. Plus I heard it's expensive. Also I'm concerned what if I'm just being dramatic? I don't want to waste anyone's time so that's why I'm trying to do so much research before so I can see if it's even worth any time. However at the same time I just want to know because everything I've seen so far sounds so much like me and I feel like being officially diagnosed will help me a lot. As of right now I feel I'm just over thinking it all and I'm not actually autistic. I don't want to seem like someone who is faking or wants attention all I want are answers and an official diagnosis will let me be at ease and to actually believe. I just want to get to the root of what's going on because sometimes I get upset and wonder why I'm not like everyone else but at the same time I tell myself I'm just being dramatic and I'm perfectly fine and other people need this stuff more than me. Sorry for the long rant I just needed to get this off my chest. I also apologize if somethings don't make sense or if I'm missing stuff in my rant (because I promise I'm missing A LOT but I can't remember what exactly I had planned this out in my head before writing this and I knew everything I wanted to write in my head but now that I'm in the moment I forgot) sorry I'm done ranting now.

2021.10.26 01:37 starriechu Brown to go need-blind for international students by 2025
PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Brown University will make significant investments to expand financial aid and improve college access, bolstered by the extraordinary performance of the University’s endowment and the success of its BrownTogether comprehensive fundraising campaign.
In a Monday, Oct. 25, letter to the Brown community following weekend meetings of the Corporation of Brown University, President Christina H. Paxson announced initiatives in three areas. Brown will (1) significantly increase scholarships for moderate-income students, and also reduce the summer earnings expectation for high-need students; (2) move toward need-blind admissions for international students; and (3) develop a program that prepares talented students from public schools in Providence for college.
With the new investments in financial aid, Brown will fully cover tuition for families earning $125,000 or less with typical assets. In addition, students of families making less than $60,000 a year with typical assets will receive scholarships that cover all expenses— tuition, room, board and books — and additional scholarship to help support other expenses.
And becoming fully need-blind for international students in the coming years will significantly expand the University’s ability to attract and educate the most promising international students from all socioeconomic groups.
